Allergiegefahr bei Kunststoff

Einzelne Kunststoffe können als Zahnfüllungen Allergien auslösen. Davor warnt Professor Franz-Xaver Reichl vom Institut für Pharmakologie und Toxikologie an der Universität München. Besonders Kunststoffmaterialien auf der Basis von Meth-Methylacrylaten seien nach seinen Erkenntnissen bedenklich. Die Allergie tritt häufig erst nach einigen Jahren auf und bleibt danach oft ein Leben lang erhalten. Die  Symptome reichen von Asthmaanfällen über Hautausschläge bis hin zu Entzündungen an der Mundschleimhaut. Auch Zahnärzte und ihre Mitarbeiter leiden unter solchen Allergien. Diese Kunststoffe können ohne weiteres die Latex-Handschuh-Barriere durchdringen. Die einzige Therapie besteht bis heute in der Entfernung dieser Kunststoffe aus den Zähnen. Reichl empfiehlt deshalb, alle Kunststoffe vor dem Einsetzen auf die individuelle Verträglichkeit zu testen und ggf. Kunststoffe zu verwenden, die bestimmte Methacrylat-Substanzen bei der Freisetzung nicht absondern.
